It's Wednesday again, and we're nearly at the end of this round of ABC Wednesday.

Y
is for
YOKE
I have a small collection of bells, mostly brass.
This is one of my bells.
It is about 2.75 inches (7 cm) tall.
The bell is in the shape of a lady. It's made in a pale yellowish brass that was once painted over with black. The clappers, instead of being inside, take the form of two buckets which swing against the skirt making a very pleasant sound. These buckets are attached by chains to ayoke
which the lady carries across her shoulders.

My mum had some brass ornaments. I remeber the cleaning process, never seen such black dusters! LOL!
Interesting idea for a collection! Bells are hard to find, especially ones that actually sound really clear. I was lucky to find mine and here you are with an amazing collection!

Cherrypie, this was described to me as a Lady in Dutch Costume - but it looks Welsh to me!
