It's ABC Wednesday again, and this is the week we've all been waiting for.
This week's letter is X.
X
is for
XEROPHYTE
A xerophyte is a plant adapted for survival in dry conditions. If you're at all interested in learning more, see here.
My cactus is a xerophyte.

This is a great choice:) For me it is a cactus and did't think of it as xerophyte:)
Petunia's ABC
Highly original - AND beautiful!
The flowers on those cactii are so rewarding. There is a place in Graaff Reinet a few hours drive from here that has the most amazing cactus garden. Nice shots
Great x and pretty flowers.
Good idea and nice photos for the letter.
I have enjoyed my visit here, because I've learnt a new word and seen your beautiful photos. Excellent and informative.
Lovely pictures of your X idea. I had one of these on my kitchen window-sill, but I gave it to my neighbour, as she collected different sorts of xerophytes.
I also posted a plant for my X contribution.
Great choice. Wonderful word for Scrabble!
Honestly, I didn't copy my X for xenophyte from you! I hadn't read your ABC Wednesday blog before I posted my own. Your photos are lovely.
Very cool. Great idea for X. I'm always so surprised at the beautiful exotic blooms on succulents!
Another new word. ;-) Xerophyte!
Nice photos and I've learned a new word which I'd never came across before.
Great photos. I am skipping this week. I can't think of anything with a X
Beautiful, healthy specimen of a xerophitic plant, Dragonstar. They are really special while in blume. Excellent choice today!

X me out of prickly tho!
Very pretty. I am struggling to find an x!
Well done, what a x-cellent X.
Lovely catcus too with it's pretty pink flowers. The one's I've had have never flowered.
Wow! Love the cactus pics. I love the world of plants, so absolutely fascinating. Shame humans have to be involved sometimes....fools like me who forget to water regularly!
You have done those prickly individuals proud.
Excellent. A proper word beginning with X too, a gorgeous flowers the cactus have.
E-x-cellent choice !

Your cactus is awesome! My husband has one that is more than 20 years old, and it sometimes flowers too!
I didn't know that, but I need lots of those kinds of plants as I often forget to water.
X-cellent post!
Wonderful 'x' word. Your cactus is beautiful.
The second xerophyte I have seen so far!! A new word I learned on the last site, and now recognise and actually know what it means on this one!
Thank you. Great X. Well done and thanks for your visit.
I looked up that word in the dictionary when I was planning my choice and didn't even remember I have a Christmas cactus. Yours is very pretty! I chose something else I had with an X.
Very pretty cactus. Good X post.
You've done some great lateral thinking there Dragonstar - most of us would have put that under C!
Very original x.
Love this X ...
Did you get my reply about the book?
:-Daryl
New word for me, very pretty cactus, they don't flower very often do they?
That top picture makes me smile :-) the plant is looking out of the window into the sunshine :-)
"Louis" is buried deeper than his cowbell in a work project for the next several weeks. He will stop and visit, but may not stay long enough to 'sign the guest registry'.
They are so pretty with their flowers!
Great post! Wish I'd know the word when I was teaching about the desert to my 4th graders. I know I'm late, but pop over to see my X post. :D
Living and learning... I didn't know the name of this acctus is xerophyte. I love cactus in general, such strong, stubborn little plants, but I have none at home!
Loved your X choice, mine was posted yesterday, so late!
XXX
I'm impressed! I can't get cacti to grow at all, let alone bloom!
