True Colours Thursday - Cobalt.

I love rich blue.
When the colour was BLUE I posted most of my cobalt blue glazed pottery. That left me with little worth showing - except these egg cups given to me years ago by Second Son.

True Colours Thursday is hosted HERE. It's always worth a visit.

True Colours Thursday - Turquoise.

I was in the vestibule of our library, taking a photo for yesterday's post. On the walls of the vestibule are several posters with information on various local historical events. Here are three of those posters - in a pretty shade of turquoise.

This is a large square scarf that I use at times to keep my shoulders warm on cool evenings. It contains a variety of colours, including turquoise.

Visit My True Colours for more turquoise posts.

Next week's colour is grey.

True Colours Thursday - Cerise.

I missed participating last week - in fact I did very little last week!
I'm back at the keyboard again this week, and here's my cerise entry.

The cyclamen on my windowsill, last summer.
It's beginning to flower again, and I'm so pleased!

Visit My True Colours for more cerise entries.

True Colours Thursday - Rust.

This week's colour is RUST.
I have a load of photos of rust in different shapes and sizes, but I wanted to show the colour not the actual effect.
So here's a single photo of my antique pie-funnel. Pie-funnels were used to help hold up the crust of a deep pie, and to let out the steam of cooking.
This funnel is lustre-glazed, and in the shape of a dragon - well, of course! It's about 4 inches high, and has a daft expression on its face.

Many more rust colours can be found through My True Colours. It's great fun seeing what people find.

True Colours Thursday - Lime.

I'm really struggling this week. I'd thought of scouring the shops to find limes, lime juice, lime marmalade... Trouble is, the vertigo is only just leaving me, and I've not wanted to wander around.
So instead I've searched the house for items that may (or may not!) be considered lime in colour.

Is the printing on this pouch of cat food lime?

This looks a bit more like it to me - and look, it even says lime on the bottle!

True Colours Thursday - Scarlet.

Today's colour is SCARLET.

This is my friendly Welsh Dragon, a felt-covered keyring charm, which normally hangs above my desk. He's sitting on a small photo album.

I think they qualify as scarlet.

True Colours Thursday - Beige.

Here I am, late again!
This week's colour is beige, which made me realise that I couldn't be totally sure that I knew exactly what colour that is.
So I consulted Wikipedia and found this page, which more or less tells me that beige is a fairly nondescript colour anywhere between cream and light brown.
Plenty of scope there!

This wall outside a Letterkenny shopping centre is beige.

And so is much of the local scenery, still being made up of winter-bleached grasses. There's more beige to be seen on the sun-patterned hills beyond.

Then many of my dragons qualify as beige.

True Colours Thursday - Green.

Last time we had green as the colour for the week I posted living greenery.
This time I thought I'd show you a few of the many greens visible in the centre of Dungloe.

My first photo is the post box in the wall of our local Post Office. Yes, these useful items are green in Ireland.

Then, in Main Street, I found this very dark green crate, holding light green young trees, backed by a mid green poster.

Behind a store was this small green fork-lift truck.

And across the carpark some men were working on the chimney of a house with a very green roof.

I found a few more green items, but I think this post is long enough now!

For many more greens, pay a visit to My True Colours. It's worth it.
Next week's colour is BEIGE.

True Colours Thursday - Violet.

I've had so much trouble finding violet photos for today - I mean, exactly what colour is violet?
As children we learned the seven colours of the rainbow - red, orange, green, blue, indigo, violet - but I could never see more than a vaguely purplish colour.
So that's what I eventually decided, vaguely purplish photos!

Hebe flowers are purplish, but are they violet?

Maybe this chive flower is violet.

Ah, but surely these violas are
violet!

True Colours Thursday - Yellow.

This week's colour is
YELLOW
so I thought I'd be a bit different.
I've no flowers for you today, and no colourful houses or fences, just the vivid, eye-catching yellow of warning signs.

Ramps? Behind the fence maybe?
And a bi-lingual sign warning the motorist to look out for children running across the road.

Then there's this sign warning possible malefactors that they can be seen - shame the cameras weren't fitted before the robbery at this store!

Though maybe the cameras are to keep an eye on those mad enough to want to eat icecream (at this time of year) from a bright yellow cone!

Poopsie started this fun. She's away at the moment, but you'll find many participants in the blogroll on the sidebar over at My True Colours.

True Colours Thursday - Brown.

Before I start this post, I want to apologise for not managing to visit many ABC Wednesday participants yesterday. My internet connection became painfully slow, and commenting proved very difficult. Things seem better today, so I should be able to get around everyone - at least, I hope so!

Right. Time to get on with today.

This week's colour is
BROWN
I have so many pictures of brown items in varying shades that I found it hard to choose. You'll just have to put up with a collection.

First, some tumble-polished Tigereye.

Second, the brown wood of my dresser, where many favourites live.

Third, what many of you have been waiting for, a brown wooden dragon sitting on a brown surface.

And lastly the golden brown of the carved wooden Welsh Dragon that hangs on the wall.

Those are my offerings this week.
For more brown pictures, please visit Poopsie-Blue who started this fun idea.

True Colours Thursday - Blue.

BLUE
comes in all shapes and sizes
and many shades.

A blue building in Main Street.

An old cobalt blue jug.

A beautiful tall vase bought for me many years ago by my husband.

A pale, pearly blue hatching dragon baby.

True Colours Thursday - Silver.

Silver is one of my favourite colours.
My problem this week has been deciding just what to post!

This silver-coloured jewellery box was given to me by my youngest son - as was the leaf necklace shown with it.

This is a close-up of the lovely pattern on the lid.

I thought I'd found enough silver pictures.
Then I realised that my kitchen is full of silver-coloured items!

True Colours Thursday is hosted by Poopsie.
If you fancy joining the fun, just post something silver and pop over to leave a comment on her blog. Next week's colour is BLUE.
