ABC Wednesday - B

For the Wednesday ABC today's letter is B. I had a hard job deciding what to post (I have so many B's in my life) but I finally decided to go with the local option.

When we lived on our island we took our small Boat to the local harbour for the weekly shop.
We used this harbour - a fishing village called Burtonport - for all our necessities. All our belongings were loaded aboard our Boat (locally known as a punt) and ferried over to the island. Here's a photo of hubby on the pier with my tricycle, and number of fishing Boats in the background.

And here he is fitting my tricycle into our punt.
The largest island was and is served by a ferryboat. Here's her stern, or back, carrying a baby boat (lifeboat)

And a close-up of the lifeboat.

Well, that's my B for today. I hope you enjoy the pictures. If you'd like to join the fun, visit mrsnesbit who came up with the idea. Happy Wednesday!

nice boats and when you said you had your own island I had to go to your profile to see you are in Co. Donegal - the only Irish islands I've sailed around were the Skelligs from Valencia Island but that has a bridge to it.

Seems a lot of you live around BOATS for all the boat posts today. Sure wish I lived near boats and near the beach too.

It looks idyllic! I would love a tricycle as I can't cope with a two-wheeler!

Oh, I love all your boats. That's really interesting too, to have to travel by boat to shop.

What a great way to fit a tricycle into a ``baby boat''. My favourite was the shot of the reflection of the lifeboat in the water.

I would love to visit Ireland, the country of my ancestors, one day.

Thank you so much for your kind comment on my B is For Beginning post. Means a lot to me to get that sort of feedback on a forthcoming novel.

Do keep in touch

Lovely shots. Sounds idyllic, living on an island away from everything. But I guess it also has its problems - and I could never survive without electricity. Thanks for visiting my ABC and my apologies for taking so long to return the visit.
