Sadness

This is a day of remembrance for all our American friends.
You are in our hearts.

Although obviously not in the same league, it's a sad day also for maritime Ireland.
This morning the beautiful Irish sail-training ship Asgard ll sank off La Rochelle, France.
All 20 trainees and 5 crew escaped unharmed, but the brigantine was lost.

This photo was taken when she visited Burtonport, Co Donegal. We rushed off in our small open boat to admire her!
She was so beautiful.

Yes, we should all think of all americans today. Thank goodness there were no fatalities on the ship, though of course it is still sad.

Every loss is sad but trhe deliberate killing of so many people is beyond sad.

It was truly a horror to remember that day, but it wasn't just Americans who were murdered this day seven years ago. All those innocent lives lost over a madman's desire to rule the world. :(

What a shame Dragonstar, that is a beautiful ship, but fotunate that no life was lost in its demise.

It is a sad day here in the US., at least as far as I am concerned. It makes all the pettiness of these elections seem so small.

How sad for the sinking. but, fortunately lives were spared.

She is a very great loss and it doesn't look likely she can be salvaged.

What a beautiful ship she was. Each life lost is a tragedy, whether it be 20 or 2500. BJ

Yes, those were incredible moments seven years ago. I still remember as I watched TV seeing that second plane coming toward the tower and thinking it must be going to investigate what happened, but then a second later I see this flame come up. You see the whole thing was so unbelievable to us Americans. Too bad our president screwed up the next seven years and has made things much worse all around. Oh, and that ship. I guess it's ironic in a way that it met it's end on September 11, a day to stay clear of? 911 is an ambulance call in the USA.

I would not have known of the lives of the crew had I not come here. Tis is what realy annoys me about the way that the news is portrayed, or what is seen important enough to report. I will shut up now. It is a sad day all round for yes the remebered loss of so many lives. Well done for posting this
