ABC Wednesday - A

Yesterday I discovered Mrs Nesbitt's ABC Wednesday. I was taken with the idea so I'm joining in. The alphabet came to an end last week and is starting back at A today. I've not had much time to think about this, so my entry is a bit hurried.

I tend to drink quite a lot of water. Also, I've always disliked the taste of chlorine and metal piping that to me make up most of the taste of tap-water. Over the years I've spent a small fortune on various bottled waters, all, believe it or not, with their different flavours.

For twelve years we lived on an island off the coast of north-west Ireland. Our drinking-water came direct from the sky, ran down our roof, along the gutters and down the pipes into two storage tanks. The eastern tank was especially cool and good, and the water was superb. Though it tasted quite different after a thunder storm!

Moving to the mainland and back to piped water brought a return to expensive bottles of "spring" water. We bought a filter jug and stored filtered water in the fridge.

Not long ago my dear husband bought a very special item for me. I proudly present my entry for letter A - my AQUA FOUNTAIN!

This lovely item filters the nasty taste out of tap-water and chills it as well. That bright blue light shines when the water temperature is 4 or 5 degrees Celsius. Lovely cool, fresh water on tap whenever I want it.

welcome to abc

Don't you have to change the filters very often?

Welcome to the club!

You may have chosen the most important A of them all: Aqua (water). What is life without? Impossible.

Hi Ackworth and thank you

Usually every 4 weeks, hpy

Thank you both for the visit

Clever .. actually its always so fun to find what you want right at home!

My mum has one of those, but I'm sticking with my filter jug for now, as I'm pushed for space in the kitchen, and have a severe lack of power outlets in there, too. BTW, I saw your post and joined ABC Wednesday, too.

We're completely dependent on filtered water in bulk over here now and it seems you are too. Where oh where did drinkable tap water go?

Welcome - I'm a newbie too! See you at B...

I like that. I want one; D

The first thing that came to mind was a glacier. Looks cool and refreshing.

It looks a great idea. But aren't the filters expensive? and doesn't it take a long time to cool the water (and make a hell of a noise)?. If it doesn't do any of those things... then I think I might get one as it looks brilliant. Jane

Very neat machine ;)
I understand about disliking the taste of chloride in tap water; we can sometimes have the same.
I'am sure that the water is very nice to drink.
Cheers !

Love the idea of the blue light. And on behalf of Mrs Nesbitt and other ABC participants, may I welcome you VERY warmly.

I have some Irish blood in me, so I'd love to visit your beautiful country one day.

Welcome to ABC Wednesday and you have a perfect choice for the letter A. I'll bet that your water tastes heavenly.

Hi thanks for visiting my site and welcome to ABC Wednesday. We recently bought a filter as well, because our water is so vile - not as fancy as yours though.
I want to do a post on what it removes from the water - yuck - can't believe what I have been drinking

Welcome to ABC Wednesday. It's so much fun seeing all the different ideas.

Thank you for all your kind comments, and your welcome.
I don't find the cost of the filters too bad spread over 4 weeks, and it's considerably cheaper than buying bottled water!
When it's cooling it sounds rather like an electric kettle boiling, but it's not a constant noise. Probably wouldn't suit everyone.
The water's nice though!

Hi dragonstar - found you through some other sites we both frequent. Here where I live (Vancouver BC Canada) we have the BEST water so you can drink it right from the tap. But it's not that way in all areas of Canada. I think I'll check out that ABC Wednesday idea.

You're the second person I've seen today who's joined this ABC thingy!

I have to say I do like my Welsh tap water. We lived in Southampton for a while and when we came back to visit, I'd take bottles of water back with me. Just from the tap you understand!

As much water as I drink maybe I need one of those. Great "A" post and welcome to ABC Wednesday Round 2.

Nice and cool water but surely you need all those nasty particles to stay healthy

Agree all bottled waters have distinctive tastes. That looks like a very efficient machine!

Great choice for the A and was thinking about posting my filter
I just bought for our faucet but wasn't sure yet. I could use it for F for Filter or W for Water Filter or B for the brand. But I
think I might know already what
my B is going to be.

Have a Blessed Happy
Creative Fun Year!!!

Water is so important and if we are to drink enough of it it must taste right. I am new to ABC, too, thanks for stopping to see my A flowers.

I can't believe all these great comments. Thank you all. What a friendly bunch you are. It's going to be exciting getting to know you all.

Hey I missed this.
Do make sure you sign up with Mr Linky on Wednesday, it's so we can see who is posting a piccie.

We had one of these, but it broke down and would you believe it was HEATING the water...and some algae grew in it! Needless to say we took it back and replaced it with a new kettle! LOL! It had been discontinued!

Great to have you on board!

Good morning Mrsnesbitt, and thanks for the welcome.

Yes, a couple of years ago I had a different water-cooler (without the filter) It we almost impossible to clean and it grew a great crop of algae - not nice! You win some, you lose some.
