It's Wednesday again, and today the letter is I.
Now you may think I should have posted this first picture last week, but for today's purposes this is not holly.

I am proud to present, fresh from my garden,
Ilex Aquifolium
Followed by two pictures of an unexpected little guest growing in a trough that's waiting to be cleared, cleaned, and eventually replanted, a pretty little dwarf

There's an out-of-focus Ivy leaf in the background, too, which reminds me of a couple of other photos.
And flowering Ivy (with bramble and montbretia leaves) taken last October.
And that's an illustration of the difficulty I had voting in Mrs Nesbit's poll this morning. Mrs Nesbit hosts ABC Wednesday (do visit her to meet other participants and to join in the fun!) and she asked "How often during the week do you think about ABC Wednesday?" Now, I find myself thinking all the time that a shot would do nicely for next week. But sometimes I think and think, and nothing comes to mind, so I search my files, and even then I can be left wondering what to do. Those are usually the times when a last-minute idea hits me out of the blue. That was true this morning while I was arranging this post, and I thought of the Ivy.
I wish I had a more organised mind.

Blue iris. Like blue eyes.
Goog choice for nice plants!"Iris":my favorite flower...
Great "I" post! Loved the little iris.
Nice photos. I especially like the iris. It is a different variety from others I've seen.
;-)
Very Pretty! I've never played this...but it looks fun! Have a great day!!hugs
I think the iris is very beautiful!
Oh I love those !!!
The marvellous all photographs, with very good and clean colours, splendid post!
Lovely photos and a good selection! :D
I enjoyed your I's. Isn't it funny how things come to us out of the blue after thinking so hard. I always come up with great ideas for whatever the letter a week later :)
The Iris is so lovely...
You've have a lot of I's I recognise there.
My gardens invaded by ivy, bit loved the little Iris;'s poking their heads up.
You done good! Two I plants and , Iris and Ivy and even one I didn't know about! (It did look like HOLLY)
I looked all week for I photos and found none. Thought about taking my iron out and taking a photo of it but that was a desperate thought! I was born in Idaho but had no photos to put online of it. . . Completely forgot about all the Iris I ahd photos of. Then I rememebred I had all these icicles from a winter storm 4 years ago and used them. If you click on the first one, you will see one very long icicle!
Lovely iris. they are so structured and elegant and very beautiful.
All pretty picture, and I did think that the first one was holly.
Dragons are the best! :) I am married to one of them (well, at least by the Chinese sign...), and I do love these creatures. You have a beautiful blog! And a nice choice for the letter I, you have great flowers. I have a little herb garden, but don't know why seems like I can't grow flowers, they simply don't resist. Probably doing something wrong... Nice to meet you at ABC. Kisses from Nydia.
Lovely flowers and great post.
Oh, such lovely photos I am seeing with the letter I. Your Iris is so pretty. The Ivy by the mossy stone is very nice as well. Good job on the post...

Hi everyone, and thanks for your comments.
I have to admit to being a bit sneaky - those of you who thought you recognised holly were totally right. Ilex is the Latin name for holly.
The first one looks like it has thorns. Cool post!
Great "I" post. Love the different ivy.
very nice photos!
Beautiful pictures of your plants. I like the ivy and the moss.
Love the Ilex :-) I have the same problem with my 52 week self portrait challenge... I started off with good intensions and loads of ideas but mmm I never quite get there and rush at the last minute ;-)
Lovely shots. :)
I love the tiny Irises. I have some in my garden also. They are just beautiful! :)
Great idea using the latin name for your I post. I love the iris, so pretty :)
Clever of you to use the botanical name!
Don't worry about not having an organized mind. It probably means your creative instead! LOL
Very Interesting post. I've never seen, or heard of, flowering ivy. Always good to learn.
Ivy is ok, I have posted some ivy too and an iris!
Great collection of lovely photos. ummm need to check on our newly planted Ilex Aquifolium
Oh I had a hard time with I also! After I posted I thought of all kinds of things and I even found some of those little irises in my yard today. Enjoyed your pictures and post.
A lot of great "I"s! love the little iris.
I am going to have to go back to Mrs. Nesbitt's and find that question as I didn't notice it. Oops!
I alwo thought I had been here, but if I was, it must have been before your lovely I-s.
Thanks for your sweet words!
You're more than welcome to go to my corner whenever you want. I know I'll be back here pretty often! :) Kisses from Nydia.
Nice picture of flowers :)
I do the same thing and sometimes nothing comes at all. These were great choices for I. Right now I haven't a clue what I will put up for next week.
beautiful little iris and Ivy! I didn't even think of ivy and I have a lot of it.

AS a garden center owner, I would like to think of plants but need to stick to my dog themes, that makes it a real challenge .
I completely overlooked Ivy and I look at it everyday in the garden! I like your use of Ilex instead of holly!
Any ideas for J and K? I'm stumped...
I like the Iris! I have Ivy plants all over my house and never even thought of them! your dragon treasure is so sweet. a perfect find - I'm glad he found you.
Good things come to people who wait. Ivy is a good one. I think about ABC Wednesday quite often myself and wonder what to post for next week or for the Q, X, and Z letters. I guess we're all in the same boat. Thanks for commenting on my post as well.
Nice job on your ABC post. I suppose I think of the next letter or letters of the alphabet at least once every day.
I seen other plants that are not Holly and wonder what they are. Does the Ilex Aquifolium have a flower or berries of a different color other than red at all?
Great photo choices!
God Bless and have a Happy Easter
and wonderful Week!!!
