It seems that I live in an odd neighbourhood.Our road has a very narrow strip of grass along part of the fence - a very long and very narrow triangle.
This is what I saw last Wednesday.

Roses certainly bring attention to it... wonder what the story is for having just the strip of grass. Very odd, for sure!

rather bizarre -- maybe your neighbour wanted rid of the plastic roses and this was better than binning them.
When I enlarged it, the dirt area looks slanted downhill towards the fence. Perhaps it is to catch the rain water and not have it flowing down the sidewalk. They at least planted flowers there and don't have weeds growing on it! I didn't think the flowers looked like plastic. . .
Well, I went back and read your post again and see you said they were plastic. So forget about that part of my post comment above and I still think I have the reason for the narrow strip.
It sounds like a nice idea, but what a pain it must be. I can understand the plastic... so much easier.
I don't know which is odder - the strip of grass or the trail of roses.

You know what I REALLY love about that shot? Not just that you spotted the roses, but the way the diagonal across the frame is perfect!!

I applaud the neighbor's moxie! I've been tempted to intersperse fake ones with my real ones out front. The colors I want don't seem to come on shade-loving plants! LOL!
