ABC Wednesday - S

Time for ABC Wednesday again, and we've reached the letter S.

I thought I'd Share another of my birthday presents, so
S
is for

SEAL

When I learned some pottery-making, many years ago, we called these "pebble pots"
You make two bowl-shaped pots and stick them together, then add what decoration you wish.
This one has been adapted to form the shape of a SEAL's head, then glazed to bring out the large dark eyes.
Second Son thinks I should put it in one of my water-garden bowls!

(editing - Petunia asked about the size of my seal. I can hold it in two hands. It measures roughly 9.5cm high by 17 long. And no, I didn't make this, it's beyond my abilities!)

For more ABC Wednesday participants, visit Mrs Nesbitt's Place.
And have a Super Wednesday!

Ahahh - first today! Very reminiscent of the heads that would watch us pass as we sailed through the Reach.

They are just amazing! Beautiful. They remind me of the seals I saw in British Columbia. How I miss them.

Did you make that? How clever. Yes, in the water would be a good place for it.

now that is interesting. Such a calm and peaceful visage on your seal there.

Very expressive; that shows a real artist as the head ( and it's expressions) is are not easy to capture.

I am glad I am late so I could read your editing comment also! What a beautiful piece! Yes, you should add it to your water garden . . . it is a seal that is "sealed" after all! Ü

I am late in posting mine but I do have an entry posted late yesterday and hope you will drop by if you see this message.

"Louis" thanks you for visiting San Francisco Bay Daily Photo.

I like the bowl idea - it would look just like they do in the wild then.

I'm surprised you didn't get a dragon for your birthday though!
