Wednesday again, and time to search the dictionary for the letter
N
Though this week the dictionary had a rest, as I wanted to share one of my favourite new authors.
Now, this may come as a surprise to you, (!) but I have to admit to liking dragons just a little bit. So when Hubby read a review of a new dragon book, I had to try it.
The author's name is
Naomi Novik
The book is about a naval captain in the time of Napoleon who inadvertently becomes a dragon rider and therefore part of the Air Force.
(Yes, this is a fascinating alternative history.)

The fourth - Empire of Ivory - is now out in paperback, so that's next on my shopping list as soon as I can get it.
I love discovering new authors that become favourites!
For more N posts and participants, visit Mrs Nesbitt, and have a great Wednesday!

Have a geat ABC Wednesday.
I love to read, too. My husband is into alternative histories. I'll pass this along to him. I chose N is for nummies. What's that you say? Click here to find out. - Margy
A very original post for what must be very original literature - must think about that since I am a Tolkien-fan.
Doesn't sound my cup of tea but if I see one on a second-hand stall I might get it for my wife.
Thanks for the book tip. :)
I will have to have a look for these...I love to read new "stuff"--authors I have never tried! Good choice....BTW, I bowl with a fellow who loves dragons and had one painted on his car....very cute....he also has a dragon in his bowling ball....certainly brings ME good luck!!!
I love to read, I will have to take a closer look at those books.
New authors always give rise to a future of wonderful reading. I like to go back to my favorites, too, and have read a few Agatha Christies in recent months. I keep going back down to your striped dog to have a good smile.
Sounds intriguing. I love finding new authors that I end up enjoying enough to gobble up their books. Have a great Wednesday...
So I suppose you've read Cornelia Funk's Dragon Rider?
Another very clever N!
Sounds a good read as its a good post for N post.
I'm an avid reader, I'll have to check this out. Thanks.
What an original choice!
As an avid reader/book lover, who loves fantasy, I'm an escapism artist, I've taken the details down.
Best wishes
Blue
Nice illustrations !
Miss Yves
Good idea for the N today.
They sound really interesting :-)
I might just have to have a look for one of these.... could be a fun read...
Well then, good job. Always good to hear first-hand about a good book, or two or three. I also did "novels" today, so pop over. :D
Aha! You like fiction!? Good post!
Wonderful covers on those books.
Have you read Eragon? I'm assuming it has a dragon in it from the cover!
Very creative and nice choice for the letter N! Thank's for the book-tip:)
How clever you are! And I think the cover illustration of the book is beautiful.
I know another dragon lover that you might enjoy knowing. She blogs at Granny Smith http://phyllisophy.blogspot.com/ and has a separate website about dragons at http://www.dragonhaven.net/
and is a delightful lady.
Cheers!
I have never read these but the art work on the cover is beautiful.
A great choice; the gook covers are beautifully illustrated.
I think this is the first ABC post that I have seen that wasn't a photo. Too cool. thanks for sharing.
Great to see you're not `dragon' your heels!!
Smart N-choice!
I don't get a chance to read novels too often, but when I do, it just takes me away. Your books sound wonderful.
that was a surprise to find you like dragons :) this was an easy one for you with a book close by! good N!
Hi, Miss Dragon! Hmm... this brought water to my mouth,I love different stories like this one. Never heard about the author, another good reason to try her too. Hope to find it here! (loved the covers as well). Thanks for stopping by at my N post too! BTW, have you seen the box I'm giving away at the blog carnival draw? Kisses from Nydia.
Intersting N post.
Nice ABC Wednesday post!
thanks for sharing and your comment at my entry.
Per your post on my site, Stitch Witchery is a fusible tape used to secure two fabrics to one another with heat (an iron). I prefer to use this instead of pins to hold down zippers will I sew them in place. Your site is amazing--I never knew so much dragonry existed!
Great post. Great to learn about new authors.
I love to read so I will look at this one;)
Petunia's ABC
Very original choice for N.Your blog is certainly different, i have jjust being having a nosey. Great stuff.
First of all, thanks for your kind comment, and secondly, it's so Nice to reed. I think I prefer , no I am sure that I prefer books to films. Books let your imagination run away, butin films all is ready for you to look at.
Happy dragon days.
Thank you all for being so kind. I'm glad some of you might try these books, and I'm also glad for the suggestions for further reading (ellen b - Cornelia Funke's Dragon Rider is now on my wish-list!) and further contact (thanks Nonizamboni!)
And yes, Rhodri - if you want to take it as a hint, feel free!
Sorry I'm so late getting around. Since I love to read your choice for N is great!
Since I also enjoy dragons I will look for these books.
Great selection for N. How fortunate that you found those books. ;o)
