It's Wednesday again, and time for ABC Wednesday hosted by Mrs Nesbitt.
This week the letter is L.
L is for Local Lake.
I stopped to take these photos yesterday, on the way to the supermarket to buy metal polish (my brass needs cleaning!)
The Punts (Local name for smallish rowing boat, not a flat-bottomed 'Oxbridge' conveyance) are still high and dry, but they'll be in the water soon.

Another photo, showing the road with my patient hubby waiting in the red car.
So there I was, cleaning some brass, when I realised that I was cleaning a
Little Lantern!

Little Lantern!
I've no idea how old this is.
It's about 7 inches tall (about 18 cm)
We were given this by some friends who had two daughters and a horse-drawn gypsy caravan.
Actually, the two girls gave it to our children.
We were moving to our Irish island, with no electricity, and they felt it would be a safer nightlight than an open candle.
It served well for years.

You certainly captured the sky in your L= Lake for ABC, beautiful reflections, and love the lamp too also when lit.Very interessting post.
You'll love mine too.
Good choises and nice shots.
I hope your brass is shining by now.... ;)
The lake shot is my fav, but liked the idea of showing the two faces of the lamp.
What a difference in mood once the lantern was lit!
Extremely lovely pictures of the lakes with the reflections - you hardly needed the lamps with tha kind of light!
Nice lake and beautiful lanterns.
Very good shots!
I love that first picture. When's the monster peeking up?
Your "L" could also be for Light.
I love the way the light and clouds are reflected in the lake. And the lit lamp is just beautiful.
I'm glad your hubby waited for you to get those! I must get out more.
Happy Wednesday to you!

Hmm.. to sit and just spend the day watching the clouds pass by over your lake... It would be wonderful to find time to do so! Your brass lamp is also beautiful, Miss Dragon... I have a little one my hubby gave me years ago, it's very charming! HAve a great Wednesday! Kisses from Nydia.
What a beautiful place and a lovely lantern. My gran had a huge collection of brass and it would take her all morning to clean it. There is something satisfying about polishing, though, i think.
Thanks for your sweet comment on my L post, Miss! And yes, I know what you men by being happy about Lucas' tonsilitis. Anything is better than dengue! Kisses from Nydia.
I love the reflections in the top photograph :-)

Beautiful reflections in the lake!
The lantern reminds of me an oriental tale (Aladin ) perhaps a Genius will appear ...Why not a dragon?
Miss Yves

The lantern is really pretty and the reflection in the first photo is gorgeous!
love the reflection of the clouds in the first pic...
how lovely to have these wonderful views just down the road. Very serene! Love the lamp as well, lots of cleaning involved though... blow that for a lark! Jane
OH Dragonstar! That lake shot is so Escher-esque. It looks like something he would have made a gazillion dollars with. Is the sky down or the town upside-down? WOW. I LOVE IT!
Thank your hubby for being patient and letting you get the shot.
