A large stone by the sea in Burtonport, erected
in memory of eleven local men who lost their lives when two boats sank over 30 years ago.
This is a slightly closer shot, which is easier to read, particularly if you enlarge it.
The Saturday PhotoHunt is hosted by
TNChick. Why not join the fun?

A sad memorial but a very lovely one. Making use of the wonderful natural boulder.
Happy weekend Dragonstar.
Excellent choice.
A timely reminder of the dangers of the sea...beautiful but deadly.
Great tribute!
It is a sad but beautiful tribute to those men. Happy weekend
That is a very nice one for the theme :-)
Nice choice for the theme. Thanks for sharing. Mine is ready also. Happy weekend.
Very interesting shape of stone, reminds me a bit of a shark's fin. Lovely, forelorn, strong, a very stately piece befitting those lost.

Beautiful shot. Fishing is such a dangerous job.
I have mixed feelings about memorials. On one hand, they often commemorate tragic events. On the other hand, their existence makes it so that people commemorated are "gone but not forgotten" and more often than not, that seems like a good thing indeed.
That's quite a rock. I bet there's a story about that, too.
That is a great memorial. Good choice for this week's theme.
