ABC Wednesday has reached the letter
W
This gave me a bit of trouble, but I don't give up easily, and so today I offer
Iolite, or
Water Sapphire
(link here)
Water Sappire is a greyish blue, sometimes clear, stone that changes colour according to the angle from which it is viewed, although my photos don't show this.
My specimen is a small tumble polished stone, only 2cm long. Larger crystals are very beautiful.
ABC Wednesday is the wonderful idea of Denise Nesbitt.

Great stone, excellent post! Merry Christmas.
Water sapphire, a very nice subtle sort of stone, as Aileni says. Must be smooth to the touch.
I'm sorry to have been absent a lot recently - preparations for Christmas and family have been my excuse - but I do want to wish you a wonderful time for Christmas!
Lovely colour - a bit like moonstones.
I Wondered what you would do for W but you found a rock. Congratulations.
That will look good for my charm bracelet! Hahahaha!
Merry Christmas!
Nadolig Llawen!
Did you notice that the bottom picture looks very much like the fossilized head of a baby dragon? hmmm.. Very clever, Mrs. D!
Very pretty stone. THank you for sharing.
