Light Tent

I have a new light tent!!!

This photo shows Second Daughter photographing her newly-finished shawl. It needs blocking to ease it into its proper shape, but she wanted before and after photos - and the light tent was available!

LAST MINUTE

It's always the same this time of year - somehow I leave something to the last minute!

The first photo was taken by my son, because he liked the shadows. I've just started the first sleeve for my grandson's jumper.

I took this photo after putting my knitting down on the kitchen counter.

I won't be seeing Grandson until the day after Christmas, and I'm sure I'll have it finished by then.

I feel rather ashamed that i haven't answered any of you, but I've had rather a poor week. I'll do better this week, I promise!


TWISTED

I found this shrub in the garden of a house I was visiting a while back. I've no idea what it is - I'll have to return in the spring and summer to find out. I couldn't resist all the lovely twisted shapes.

Thanks to you better informed people, I now know that this is a Corkscrew or Twisted Hazel (Corylus Avellana 'Contorta') also known as 'Harry Lauder's Walking Stick'. It should look beautiful in early spring.

RIP Rinli.

Back on March 10th 1997, while we were living on our island, our cat went into labour. She was having trouble, and not inclined to accept help, so Youngest Son (less than 12 years old at the time) held the mother down while I pulled the kitten out.
He grew rapidly, and purred as loudly as the large Royal National Lifeboat Institution lifeboat we'd see fairly frequently.
That was when Husband named him Rinli.
His second name was Rolag, as we were learning to spin at the time and he looked just like a roll of fluffy wool.
He had many adventures in his life, including moving to the mainland and then to yet another house, but recently he began to change. Some days he wouldn't eat, some days he'd just stare into space and not seem to know what was happening. Then he started going to the toilet wherever he was sitting, then running away.
Yesterday we took him to the Vet/Veterinarian, and she found lumps on his liver. It seems liver damage can cause all the symptoms he's been displaying, and we had to make the hard decision.
He was a much loved pet for 14.5 years, and he will be missed.

Thank you all for your kind wishes last week. The pain has eased a lot, but I'm still dopey and spend part of the day dozing in my chair. I fact, I look rather like my photo for today -

Another Reflection

At the moment I'm more or less confined to the house with sciatica, and the pain meds send me to sleep for much of the day.
That means I have to look around for something that might be just good enough for the Challenge.

This small mirror stands on the shelf by my computer. In front of it is a brass stamp box which now holds paper clips etc. and in front of that is a shawl pin made by First Daughter for Second Daughter.
The whole thing caught my eye as I staggered past, and gave me a great excuse to sit down!

Reflected Reflections

I was sitting in the car, one bright day, waiting for Husband and Second Daughter to return from their various errands, when my attention was caught by all the reflections in the wing mirror.

As you can see, it has become a storage or junk area.
There is even a tangle of lights left over from Christmas decorations some time ago!

I was walking through a local shop this week, exploring the newly repositioned display cases. I saw this unusual crackle-finish glass vase, and couldn't resist taking my camera out!
