Interesting that I didn't notice the electric cables until I read your words. I love these old structures and your fine image certainly captures the loving detail of the past.
I remember years ago when they were renovating 30th street station in Phila. how I'd get a sore neck looking up at all the wonderful details that had been covered by decades of grime and neglect.
PS I'm a retired architect so I'm a sucker for photos of the bones of buildings.
I love these old structural details, they combine beauty with functionality. It's too bad, in my opinion, that the modern wires were not routed along the old lines instead of across them--but I imagine it saved money to have a shorter run.
However, it is an arresting photo, and looks good in b&w!
Perfect lines for monochrome. That is a nicely designed detail at the station. [Not that you're asking, but I prefer no word verification. I find Blogger/Google already captures the spam.]
