The Weekend in Black and White

Here be Dragons!

I found this old window on the side of The Milestone Hotel in London.

They look rather like sea serpents, but they do have small wings.
I love the way their tails entwine.

They look very fierce!

I like the too shot with the period street-light alongside it.

I agree about the tails and the fierceness! I wonder what that braid would look like in hair...and if I could do it on my own hair! Hmmm...

Amazing that those are to be found at a hotel since they don't look all that welcoming! :D

These dragons/winged serpents really don't look very friendly, but what a unique window sculpture. I agree, the entwining tails are fascinating. I really like the drama and detail of the close-up.

Seems most architectural detail not only invites black and white photography, but demands it for best results. Well done, Dragonstar!

The serpents are amazing! I'll be in London in a few months and I'll keep my eyes open for this!

Of course they are dragons. Might it be why you were drawn to the image? Lovely details and an excellent B&W rendering.

On of these weekends I might help out but not this time. My wife and I celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary on Sept. 11.

Modern architecture lacks this character, there are subtle details everywhere in these images.

Not often do you find sea serpents upended on two out of four legs! Very impressive! Grand in monochrome!

wow - they do look fierce close up. The window is so very ornate. Do you know if the building was always a hotel, or maybe something more exotic in the past?
