The Weekend in Black and White.

Storm Damage

A tree was blown down in a high wind and fell across an access road I pass on my morning walk.  By afternoon it had been sliced into chunks and moved aside.  These are some of the ivy-covered chunks.

You'll find many great black and white photos if you visit the Home Page.

There is something mesmerizing about tree rings, I love to study them. Really interesting shapes.

If I counted growth rings correctly this tree was about 46 years old when the wind storm blew it down. For its first 15-16 years it had plenty of water, but after than water became more scarce. Was there a decrease in rain about 30 years ago? Interesting photos.

Those tree rings are so artistic. Each trunk has its own special design. Lovely.

Sad that the tree had to go, but the ivy and the year rings make for very interesting black and white images!

Great pattern and textures here. Also looks like it could be a good hypnotic tool, lol.
