We used to use these for quick and easy boat mooring.

They look beautiful! :)
I have a small one as a key fob...
Bit of climbing kit as well.
Great details, - perfect in B&W.
Is it better than a rope knot?
They do look handy. Happy Weekend!

Ekselent!
Cool details!
@HansHB - no, a rope knot works best. We used to clip one of these to the mooring to hold us still while we tied the rope.
Great details! Like it!
Beautiful photos, wonderful B & W!
I thought these were primarily used in rock climbing, it makes sense for boating. I like the detail of the engagement, looks very secure.
Wonderful captured details and surface of carabin hook, Dragonstar!
Have a nice weekend:)
Great b/w macros!
They are certainly images of a "no nonsense" link. I like their bold shine.
Interesting shots Dragonstar!!!
Lovely macro. we use lighter carbiners here to hold keys, tote bags, etc...

Awesome close-ups!

Fine macro shots. Boat mooring? What ever happened to the quick and easy bowline knot? Didn't the metal of the carabiner damage the boat?
@ Taken For Granted - We kept the carabiner attached to a line in the boat. When the tide was running hard, and it could run like a river in flood, we could clip the carabiner to our mooring to hold us in place until we'd tied the rope safely.
